Excavator Crane
Course Information
Pre-requisites
- Must be a minimum age of 18.
- Most hold valid sentinel track Safety Card endorsed with PTS.
- Must meet medical requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 1.
- Must have a good level of literacy to meet Entry Qualifications.
- Must Meet the requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
- Must hold Machine Operator - Excavator Crane Competence.
Primary Objectives
At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:
- Describe how the Excavator Crane is designed to function under normal operating conditions.
- Describe what equipment calibration certificates and checks are required to comply with the relevant rules and regulations
- Describe what preparatory checks need to be completed on the machine including;
- Pre-start checks/maintenance are complete/documented
- Machine/Crane Controller’s checklist is completed
- Describe the checks need to be completed on lifting accessories prior to use.
- Briefly describe the main functions of all relevant controls available to the Driver/Operator.
- Avoid the Excavator Crane being placed in an unstable condition.
- Demonstrate their ability to read a work / Lift plan and communicate its content effectively.
- Correctly attach and use the lifting accessories to ensure a safe lift
- Control the movement of the Excavator Crane taking into account:
- Condition of the track
- Cant
- Gradient
- Load height & Radius
- Machine Sectors
- Describe what information needs to be given to the Driver/Operator and how to confirm the Driver/Operator understands the extent of the movement / lift.
