Group 3 Powered Lifting

Course Information


Pre-requisites

  1. Must be a minimum age of 18.
  2. Most hold valid sentinel track Safety Card endorsed with PTS.
  3. Must meet medical requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 1.
  4. Must Meet the requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
  5. Must hold the base machine competence from a natinally recogised accreditation scheme.
  6. Must hold a full driving licence appropraite to the host machine
  7. Must hold current and valid OTP Core

Primary Objectives

At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:

  • Describe how powered lifting attachments covered by this course are designed to function under normal operating conditions.
  • Describe what equipment calibration certificates, checks and operator competencies are required to comply with the relevant rules and regulations.
  • Recognise when the use of powered lifting attachments may affect the stability of the machine.
  • Recognise and correctly control the risks imported by the powered lifting attachments within this course.
  • Control the movement of the host machine and attachment (while travelling and working) taking into account:
    • Condition of the track
    • Cant
    • Gradient
    • Exclusion Zones
    • Possession Arrangements
  • Describe what information needs to be given to the Driver/Operator and how to confirm the Driver/Operator understands the extent of the movement / lift.
