Pre-requisites

1. Must be a minimum age of 18.
2. Most hold valid sentinel track Safety Card endorsed with PTS.
3. Must meet medical requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 2.
4. Must have a good level of literacy to meet Entry Qualifications.
5. Must Meet the requiremments of Network Rail Standard NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
6. Must hold a valid Machine Operator Competence.

Primary Objectives

At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:

• Describe how the Lorry Loader Crane is designed to function under normal operating
• conditions
• Describe what equipment calibration certificates and checks are required to comply with the
• relevant rules and regulations
• Describe what preparatory checks need to be completed on the machine including;
  • Pre-start checks / maintenance are complete / documented
  • Machine / Crane Controllers checklist is completed
• Describe the checks need to be completed on lifting accessories prior to use.
• Briefly describe the main functions of all relevant controls available to the Driver/Operator.
• Avoid the Lorry Loader Crane being placed in an unstable condition.
• Demonstrate their ability to read a work / Lift plan and communicate its content effectively.
• Correctly attach and use the lifting accessories to ensure a safe lift
• Control the movement of the Lorry Loader Crane taking into account:
  • Condition of the track/ground conditions
  • Cant
  • Gradient
  • Load height & Radius
  • Machine Sectors
• Describe what information needs to be given to the Driver/Operator and how to confirm the Driver/Operator understands the extent of the movement / lift.
