Pre-requisites

  1. You must have the passed the relevant CITB Health and Safety Test within 2 years of the CPCS test.

Primary Objectives -

To provide thorough theory and practical training in the operation of Wheeled Loading Shovel. Course will include:

  • Naming and explaining the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conforming to manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, Other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
  • Pre-use checks
  • Configuring machine ready for site and highway travel
  • Traveling over rough, undulating ground, steep inclines and level surfaces
  • Maneuvering in confined spaces
  • Configuring and set-up for extraction and loading duties
  • Explaining actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Extract differing types of materials from stockpiles and other sources
  • Form stockpiles of segregated materials and construct (temporary) ramps
  • Sort and place materials into transporting vehicles and hoppers
  • Spread and level ground and materials
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures
  • Explain the loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting
